[Ynet] Egypt has no intention of a waging a holy war against Syria, but still supports the Syrian peoples' desire for freedom, new Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy said on Saturday.
The Islamist Moslem Brüderbund movement of ousted Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi last month joined a call by some Sunni holy mans for a jihad against the Syrian government and its Shi'ite allies. Signaling a different approach, the newly installed Fahmy told news hounds: "There are no intentions for jihad in Syria."
| Wise. The Egyptian army certainly couldn't do it, and the only result of allowing civilians to go off on their own is that the ones who aren't killed or mutilated come back with interesting new skills and a bad attitude. |
