#14  Its kind of like the operating spring for the M-60. The one that everyone seems to want to take out while sitting on the floor with their legs spread. Lucky for me, the fellow showing us how to dissemble the M-60 did a warning demonstration before anyone attempted to impale sensitive anatomy parts.

Though failure doesn't sound as bad when you forget the reason for the term "M1 Thumb"

When you have that big a mixture of M1911 and M1911A1 parts it doesn't matter.

#6  Shump, a 1915 mfg serial # must not be late enough to warrant your warnings...

#5  What I like most about this stuff is that, after dis- and re-assemblys of enough firearms, I have sufficient pieces left-over to build me a free one...!

#3  Uhm, if you are going to try this on a late model 1911 be aware that the tolerances can be tight and the springs kind of strong. The struggle to twist the barrel bushing into the right position can lead to the royal order of the red spot on your fore head when the recoil spring plunger exits at a high velocity. Also it might be a good idea to have the frame in a large plastic bag because the spring for the thumb safety plunger can launch the plunger and the spring across the room. Also it might be a good idea to "kink" that spring in the middle to prevent in the field launches. Doing this on the floor with a large white beach towel is is also recommended the first couple of times and also make sure pets, small children, and laughing wives are not present. Do not ask me how I know.
