| [BBC.CO.UK] The most senior woman police officer in Afghanistan's troubled Helmand ...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan... province has died in hospital, a day after being shot by unidentified gunnies. Lieutenant Negar was shot in the neck near police headquarters in the quiet provincial capital, Lashkar Gah. She is the third senior policewoman to be killed in recent months. Her predecessor in Helmand, Islam Bibi, was killed on her way to work in July. Police in Helmand face the twin threats of Taliban gunnies and drug traders. No group has said it carried out the latest attack. A front man for the governor of Helmand described Lt Negar's assailants as "enemies of Afghanistan". |
