Rooshians Reveal F-35 Competitor
2013-09-25
The aircraft is planned to enter active service in 2016 – 2016. So far four aircraft have been produced and involved in the flight testing program. A fifth T-50 is expected to join the rest of prototypes by the end of the year.
More photos here. I hope those flaps fold up out of the way of the jet intakes before flight. Otherwise, it ain't gonna go very fast!

#3  ..Here's the problem - I have no doubt that this beast COULD be ready to go in 4-6 years....but the Russians can't afford it. They can build upgraded versions of the stuff they had when the Wall came down, but they haven't been able to produce more than a few hand-built prototypes of everything else that they've trumpeted over the last two decades. And they sure as heck aren't going to sell them to anyone WITH the money who might end up using them against them (see also, Iran). The -35, for all its problems, is still far better than this competitor.
