Rangers man killed in Landhi explosion

[Pak Daily Times] One Rangers' man was killed and five others maimed in a bomb kaboom in Landhi 89 on Thursday morning.

As per reports, the kaboom occurred when Rangers troops were passing from Timber Market. The bomb was fixed in a cycle of violence, and resulted in injuring at least six Rangers personnel. The kaboom was heard in a large area, and damaged glass in several nearby buildings.

Following the kaboom rescue teams of different welfare organizations and extra contingent of law enforcers rushed to the spot. The injured were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).

To avoid any further complications and incident, the law enforcing agencies cordoned the area as soon as they arrived at the scene of the crime, while victims were rushed to the ER of JPMC.

Emergency in charge of JPMC, Dr Semi Jamali confirmed the death of one of the injured, who was identified as Punnu Khan and has termed the condition of another one of the personnel as critical.

The remaining five personnel are however out of danger, she added.

Bomb Disposal Squad also arrived at the blast site, and according to BDS experts the bomb, concealed into a cycle of violence, was triggered with a remote control device.

According to a BDS official, the bomb weighed around four to five kilogrammes.

the funeral prayers of the dear departed were offered at Bhittai Rangers headquarters in Malir Halt. The prayers were attended by a large number of personnel and later his body was sent to district Tharparkar for burial.

On behalf of one of the injured Rangers' personnel, FIR No 612/13 under Section ¾ of the explosives act and 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, has been registered at Aziz Bhatti cop shoppe against unidentified persons.
