Bomb kills ranger in southern Thailand |

A member of a teacher protection unit was killed and five others injured in two bomb attacks in Narathiwat province yesterday. The fatal explosion occurred mid-morning on a road in Rangae district as a team of rangers patroled the area. The bomb, hidden under a pile of bricks on the roadside, was detonated when the team walked past. Earlier the same day, two volunteer rangers were slightly injured in a bomb explosion in the same district. Police believe the bomb attacks are the work of In Pattani province, an employee of a military-run development project was killed in a drive-by shooting in Khok Pho district yesterday. Chao Rattanasan was traveling on a motorcycle when the pillion gunman on another motorcycle fired at him. The victim, who was returning home after taking his daughter to school, was hit in the head. |
