| [Ynet] Egypt's military-backed interim president said Thursday that the country's uprisings have put an end to the police state, part of a campaign to rebrand the security forces that have a long and notorious legacy, amid a heavy-handed crackdown on Islamists and other critics of the government. | #2 Police Day celebrations? Nothing police-statey about that! As for 'heavy-handed crackdown', it's going to take some work to discourage the Islamists. They are not going to slink off quietly (see Third blast heard in Cairo area thread, for example) |
