2014-02-03 |
[An Nahar] The Lebanese army said Sunday that more than 25 kilograms of explosives, rockets and grenades were used in the suicide kaboom that targeted the northeastern town of Hermel a day earlier. The army said in a communique that the military experts, who inspected the site of Saturday's kaboom, concluded that the vehicle used for the bombing contained 25-30 kilograms of explosives, rockets and hand grenades. The kaboom happened at a petrol station in Hermel, a stronghold of Hizbullah, when the bomber set the explosives inside the Grand Cherokee. The Al-Nusra Front in Leb, a group named after al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, claimed the attack on Twitter, saying it was a suicide kaboom in response to Hizbullah's involvement in Syria. The blast left at least three people dead and 28 injured, caretaker Health Minister Ali Hassan Khalil said Saturday. |
