| 47 RU Shibir men sued |

| [Dhaka Tribune] Two cases have been filed against 47 leaders and activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir ... the student wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh... of Rajshahi University unit in connection with Tuesday's attack on two leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League ... the student wing of the Bangla Awami League ... (BCL) on the campus. RU unit Shibir president Ashraful Alam Imon is among the accused. RU unit BCL vice-president Atiqur Rahman filed the two cases, one for attempting murder and another under the Explosive Substance Act, against 32 identified and 15 unidentified Shibir men with Motihar cop shoppe yesterday evening, said Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of the cop shoppe. On April 29, the left leg of Togor M Salehi, student affairs secretary of RU unit of BCL, was chopped off by miscreants on the university campus. The attackers also cut off the tendons of the hands and legs of RU BCL activist Abdullah Al Masud during the attack. Witnesses said miscreants attacked Togor and Masud came under when they were on their way to classes in a rickshaw from their dormitory in that morning and expeditiously departed at a goodly pace exploding two crude bombs. |
