"This is a loving community": 4 shot in Seattle
2014-06-06

A gunman is in custody after four people were shot on the campus of a Christian university in Seattle on Thursday afternoon, police said.

Two people suffered life-threatening wounds.

The Seattle Pacific University campus was locked down and students and staff were evacuated from Otto Miller Hall after the shooting, which happened about 3:30 p.m. PT near 3rd Ave. West and West Nickerson Street. Two victims were shot in the hall, Seattle police reported.

A man and a woman were in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center, police said. Another man and woman were in stable condition with minor injuries.

The Seattle Times reported seven people were shot, but that has not been confirmed by police. The gunman reportedly used either a rifle or shotgun.

Police initially reported that a second armed suspect was being sought but later said only one gunman was involved.

Seattle Pacific is Christian university with an enrollment of 4,000. Founded 125 years ago by Methodists, the school is located in the city's Queen Anne Hill neighborhood, about 10 minutes from downtown.

#5  Zero info on the shooter except a male. Anyone heard a name or religious affiliation?

#4  Hat tip to Mr. Meis. Hopefully he shoved the pepper spray canister, shooter's weapon and ammo, up the shooters arse.

#3  Jon Meis, a Sr. Engineering student working as a student monitor, pepper sprayed and tackled the shooter while he was reloading. The best defense is a good offense, if someone has the courage to do it. Marines should recruit this young man.

#2  Only 4? They do that so often in Chicago these days, four would be considered a light day.

#1  Reports are that the gunman was taken down by a student with pepper-spray who sprayed him and then tackled him and then other students joined in.
