Rome Will Be Conquered Next, Says Leader Of 'Islamic State'
2014-07-04
[Telegraph] Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the self-proclaimed leader of the 'Islamic State' stretching across Iraq and Syria, has vowed to lead the conquest of Rome as he called on Mohammedans to immigrate to his new land to fight under its banner around the globe.

Baghdadi, who holds a PhD in Islamic studies, said Mohammedans were being targetted and killed from China to Indonesia. Speaking as the first Caliph, or commander of the Islamic faithful since the dissolution of the Ottoman empire, he called on Mohammedans to rally to his pan-Islamic state.

He also called on jihadi fighters to escalate fighting in the holy month of Ramadan, which began on Sunday. "In this virtuous month or in any other month, there is no deed better than jihad in the path of Allah, so take advantage of this opportunity and walk the path of you righteous predecessors," he said. "So to arms, to arms, soldiers of the Islamic s, fight, fight."

In a reflection of the havoc wreaked the past month by the Sunni insurgency led by the group, the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
said more than 2,400 people were killed in Iraq in June, making it the deadliest month in the country in years.
More in the same vein at the link. But a historian friend pointed out an interesting tidbit about the use of Rome in the Muslim historical lexicon. She wrote, with regard to the headline above, "'Rome' in Muslim historical parlance should mean Istanbul. The country we now call Turkey was called, by Turks, Rum: the land taken from the Eastern Romans."

#11  We won't have to worry about this for a long time. ISIS will have it's hands full with the Shiites. Afterall, they just demolished the Makam al abas mosque in Mosul. Know that Via Gatewaypundit.

The new Caliphate + "Islamic State" has to get through the Knights of Muscovy, the Teutonic Knights, + The Knights Templar, etc. first.

IMO PUTIN is still working towards a unified JudeoChristian Bloc + Bulwark broadly centered around the Black Sea + Crimea.

Yuuuppp.

This Caliphate is effec setting itself up as the THIRD ISLAMIC/MUSLIM COUNTER-SEE to SAUDI ARABIA + SHIA IRAN - IMO ITS HERE TO STAY FOR A LONG LONG L-O-N-G TIME TO COME, + WILL HAVE TO JUSTIFY ITS LEGITIMACY + EXISTENCE TO BOTH THE ISLAMIC + NON-ISLAMIC WORLDS IN THAT TIME.

Al-Baghdadi definitely gots the cajones or gonads for the above - he + Caliphate aren't going anywhere widout a hard bitter fight.

#9  I suspect even with a weakened economy a well motivated Italy would clean the clocks of these pimples. And you gotta go through Italy to get the Papal States.

#8  Constantinople was the capitol of the Roman Empire. The city called "Rome" was little more than a barbarian's grazing patch at the time.

#5  It's well past time to start using napalm against these %$&^%#&%$%&%$^, to "light up their life". Napalm and ARCLIGHT, two sure winners, preferably used against the new "Caliph's" home.

#4  We should be sensitive enough to not disturb them during their Holy month of Ramadan, during which they sit quietly and contemplate World Peace. Which, I think, translates to Islam in their language. Or was that Submission? It's so confusing.

#3  ...the land taken from the Eastern Romans

..by the sword, and the walls of Constantinople finally by cannon. So, much for the 'Religion of Peace'(tm).
