2014-10-08 |
[Libya Herald] Three Libyans have been killed in Syria in recent days, according to Daesh, also known as the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allaharound with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not reallyMoslems.... . The most recent death was of an unnamed Libyan who Daesh reported had died fighting Kurds north of Aleppo. Last week the organization announced the death of Abu Sahaib and Abu Ouf, though no further details were given. There are no clear figures for the number of Libyans who have gone to Syria and Iraq to join up with IS. Estimates range from a few hundred to one or two thousand. Most would-be IS members find their way to the organization via Turkey. Many are young people who quit Libya without warning and leave worried families behind them. |

#1 I just go with "IS" since it illustrates their greater intent. ISIS/ISIL is just a reference to their short term goals. |
