Missing Saudi may have joined IS: Kin
2014-10-09
[ARABNEWS] The family of a missing Saudi student in Malaysia is concerned about his whereabouts amid growing fears that he might have gone to the war-zone in the Middle East.

According to a report, Mishal Al-Suhaimi was in Australia pursuing higher education, but there has been no word from him since Sept. 15.

He was reported to have left for Malaysia where the Saudi Embassy has been searching for him. His family is getting increasingly worried that he may have gone to join the fighters in the war zones in the Middle East.

The grief-stricken mother was quoted by a local daily here as saying that her son had contacted her sometime back asking for her permission to join the krazed killers, but she refused.

"He had something on his mind about joining the war," she said.

Saudi Ambassador to Turkey Adel Mirdad has confirmed their return stating that a number of Saudi youth had communicated with the embassy before Eid Al-Adha asking to facilitate their return.

He said the embassy has completed all the formalities for the returnees. Parents have played a crucial role in persuading them not to risk their lives in the war torn region and instead rejoin their families back home.

The Saudi Embassy in Canberra confirmed that it had received a call from Al-Suhaimi's family on Sept. 6 saying they had lost contact with him. "We immediately contacted relevant Australian authorities to know his whereabouts and we have got the information that Al-Suhaimi has left Australia," the embassy said.
