300 volunteers finish training, ready to battle ISIS in Salahuddin
2015-01-14
Salahuddin -- The deputy of the security committee in Salahuddin province Khaled al-Khazraji announced Tuesday, that 300 volunteers from the province have finished their training and are now ready to battle ISIS.
All by themselves, apparently...
Al-Khazraji informed IraqiNews, "Iraqi soldiers backed by al-Hashed al-Sha'abi forces have managed to kill 6 elements of the ISIS group, including a senior leader, known as Ahmed Agraf Mazhour, during a security operation in southern Biji," adding that, "300 volunteer fighters from Salahuddin have finished their combat training and are ready to battle ISIS."

Noteworthy, the paramilitary Iraqi Volunteer Forces, known as al-Hashed al-Sha'bi, has opened the door to those who want to volunteer from all districts of Salahuddin province for joining the government ranks and battle against ISIS.

#1  That name seem sort of familiar? In the west, that name is "Saladin", the famous Kurdish moslem general. And he wasn't a typical moder Islamist - he did allow Christians and Jews considerable freedoms compared to the modern bunch of Arabs. For instance, upon the capture of Jerusalem, Saladin summoned the Jews in Askalon that had been ejected by the Crusaders, and invited them to resettle in the city.

This article sounds like the Iraqi Army is trying to borrow a little glory from the Kurds, given the Kurds latest successes militarily - and they even compied the Eagle of Saladin in their banner (the same one the Kurds have use their national symbology)
