Muslim Call To Prayer To Be Chanted Every Friday At Duke University |
2015-01-15 |
[BREITBART] In a new initiative to promote religious pluralism, Duke University will broadcast the Moslem call to prayer every Friday on campus. The call to prayeralso known as adhanwill be chanted by the Duke Moslem Student Association. The prayer itself is set to start this Friday at 1:00 p.m. and will be broadcast and amplified from the Chapel bell tower on campus. As campuses continue to foster political correctness, they use it as a way to favor religions seemingly at war with Western Civilization and Judeo-Christian beliefs. Frequently, we see students fighting for their religious freedom on campusespecially Christians. We hope that Duke University will also allow equal opportunity for Christian students to gather to pray and respect their religious freedom. Duke University has a long history of fostering political correctness and hypersensitivity, from Chick-Fil-As removal from campus, to hosting a the national Paleostinian Solidarity Movement conference, and to canceling a pro-life event in their Womens Center on campus. Young Americas Foundation called and emailed Duke Universitys associate dean of religious life, Christy Lohr Sapp, for comment but has yet to hear back. Ashley Pratte, spokeswoman for Young Americas Foundation, spoke with the associate deans assistant who confirmed this story. |

#24 I wonder what would happen if someone put up a flag in their dorm window or a nativity scene somewhere on campus. |

#23 Ironic that this free speech is permitted on campus while many others are excluded as micro-aggressive or whatever. Is this cutting edge progressive/transgressive or merely hypocrisy? |

#18 The ironic thing is that Duke was founded by Methodists and Quakers. Its motto is "Knowledge and Faith" |

#16 Honoring doctrine that will corrupt, destroy, or make nill the use of your institution.... Brain dead. |

#15 My point about private institutions is they can choose, and in Duke's case they chose poorly. Duke could have chosen to broadcast Hitler speeches and Tokyo Rose during WWII, their leadership was simply wiser back then. |

#14 I donb't think after Peral Harbor a private university would have been allowed to serve as a relay for Nazi and Japanese propaganda . Private does not mean you can do what you want. |

#13 Private university they can do whatever they want. If they want to be a welcoming place or Madrass to attact more green card terrorists we know who to thank. Reap what you sow, according to another big book that used to be relevant. |

#12 If Duke truly did not allow Christians to meet on campus (or deny the pro-life group to meet) or any other shun to Christian (or Jews, Buddhists or atheists, for that matter), then I smell a lawsuit coming. Only takes 1 person of those other faiths to be offended and I'd bet some law-group would defend them for free. |

#8 I have heard that the Saudi supremo went to Putin in order to have a Saudi-funded megamoque in Moscow. -No problem as long as you allow a mega orthodox cathedral in Mecca. -I cannot authorize that because yours is a false religion. -I have exactly the same opinion, about yours. Good bye. Putin is my hero and the bastards of Duke University should get what the Boko Haram is doing to non-Muslims in Nigeria. |

#7 Duke is the ancestral home of political correctness. According to some sources the concept of being politically correct originated with the faculty senate at Duke. They may play mean basketball and good football, but they are a slavering pack of rabid liberals in Durham. |

#2 That would make it the 1,564,786th Holiest see in Islam. And of course infidels can no longer go there without risk of injury, rape, or death. |

#1 So how many Muslim students are there at Duke? Two? Three? Five? Isn't this the same Duke that had a hissy fit over some group wanting to reserve space at the student union for a Christian bible study group and were refused? |
