It has taken the U.N. months to get the opposing sides back to the negotiating table after a single round of talks in September.

"It's going to be a long process, it's going to be difficult," the U.N. special envoy for Libya, Bernardino Leon, said.

"We are not expecting to have a breakthrough tomorrow or the day after tomorrow," said Leon, who is overseeing the dialogue in the Swiss city.

"There is a gap between the parties, which is becoming more complicated with more fighting on the ground."

Analysts warn that the negotiations are unlikely to have any real impact unless the leaders of all the gangs -- some of whom are absent from the negotiations -- become directly involved.

#1  Is this the last chance for peace or the last chance for the UN drones to drain the expense fund before funding is cut?

They aren't going to accomplish anything except run up some heavenly hotel bills and keep the more expensive restaurants open late.

Come to think of it, there is that nifty seldom used League of Nations complex thingee on the outskirts of Geneva. Do you suppose we could suggest they check out the lease and have a property inspection?
