IRS Has Active Contract For MILLIONS With Company HHS FIRED Over Botched Healthcare.gov
2015-01-22
[Daily Caller] Seven months after federal officials fired CGI Federal for its botched work on Obamacare website Healthcare.gov, the IRS awarded the same company a $4.5 million IT contract for its new Obamacare tax program.
No, nothing wrong with your memory at all. This is the same CGI where former FLOTUS classmate Toni Townes-Whitley, Princeton class of ’85, is senior vice president.

#4  $4.5 Million? "Hello World" is at least $100,000,000 for this bunch.

#3  The Obamacare health website in Massachusetts never worked, despite the state paying $170 million to CGI.

Massachusetts, the state that pioneered government healthcare through its Romneycare health insurance program in 2006, could only enroll 31,000 people in 2014. Most enrolments were through paper applications.

And in Vermont, state officials pulled the plug on CGI after its system failed to work for 10 months. Vermont had paid $66.7 million to CGI. The state imposed a $5 million penalty on the company for shoddy work.

Sounds like the IRS actually got a bargain which is surprising for an agency that can't even keep track of its email. CGI must be losing their grip. But then, there is always the possibility of cost overruns.

#2  Why is the person who authorized this contract not at Leaven worth?

Because the current Attorney General is Eric Holder and because the next Attorney General, even if he or she is a Republican, will be in on it. Besides, one of the last things Obama will do on his way out of the White House will be to issue a whole $h!t load of presidential pardons. There will always be crony capitalism no matter which party is in power. That means that a web site that costs $500,000 for computers, computer rooms and programmers will cost an additional $4 million for the crony to stuff in his or her pocket. The crony will then contribute $500,000 to the election campaigns of the politicians who awarded the contract.

OK, my numbers may be off by a few cents but we'll never see a detailed line item budget for this project. I'd tell you to follow the money but it always seems to disappear down some rabbit hole. I'd love to see some enterprising journalist go down that rabbit hole but it ain't gonna happen. It never does.

#1  Four million dollars? Since the cost of developping a web site is nearly 100% brainpower cost (ie paying people) plus theb cost of having a building to house them how is that possible? After adding housing costs the cost of a web designer is below 200,000$. Don't tell me theyn neede twenty man years for a web site. Why is the person who authorized this contract not at Leaven worth?
