1375 people killed last January in Iraq
2015-02-02
On Sunday, United Nations stated that the violence in Iraq had left at least 1375 individuals dead during the month of January, noting that 790 of them were civilians. The United Nations said in a statement published by ‘Reuters’ and followed by IraqiNews.com, “The acts of violence carried out by the terrorist organizations and the military operations in Iraq have left about 1375 people, including 790 civilians, dead.”

It added, “The dead included 585 individuals in the Iraqi Army, which is struggling to rebuild itself after ISIS managed to control large tracts of land last year.”

Noteworthy, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Iraq, considered Tuesday (December 30, 2014) that 2014 was the most “violent and brutal year” because of ISIS crimes, pointing out that the number of violations amounted to 3 millions, 981 thousand and 597 of which were committed by the terrorist gangs in Iraq.

#1  "after ISIS managed to control large tracts of land last year.”

Considering that the Iraqi army more or less handed it to them, it didn't take much in the way of management.

Large Huge "tracts of land" - /Monty Python "Holy Grail" reference
