Ghani orders probe into alleged $215m fraud in MoD fuel contract

has ordered an immediate probe into alleged fraud for the purchase of fuel for the Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan.

Nazifullah Salari front man for President Ghani told news hounds that a delegation led by Hamidullah Farooqi was given the task to find out regarding fraud allegations by losing bidders who have claimed that there is a difference of $215 million in fuel supply contract.

Salarzai further added that the difference in contract price was also confirmed by coalition forces and office of US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction.

He said the delegation was instructed to launch an investigation after hearing the remarks of all parties involved in the contract.

According to Salarzai the meeting was organized in the presence of Ministry of Defense officials, bidding companies representatives and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Abdullah Abdullah

Salarzai also added that seven other contracts which had technical and legal issues were also reviewed during the meeting.

President Ghani also instructed to cancel the current contract and re-announce the bid once the investigations into alleged fraud have been completed.

#1  As we all know, the Afghan is of the highest moral caliber. Matter of fact, it is said that an Afghan cannot be bought. It looks like renting one is clearly the way to go.
