| 12 extremists killed in French operation in Mali | |

| [Ynet] A Malian official says that a French military operation killed 12 murderous Moslems in far northern Mali, amid renewed violence in the region. The French Defense Ministry says that French troops put a dozen fighters "out of action" after moving in on the group in the rugged Adrar des Ifoghas area Saturday. A local official in northern Mali confirmed Tuesday that the 12 were killed. He spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation.

| #2 "The French don't talk much about what they're doing in their various former colonies, but they just keep on doing it." I saw this first hand during my time in West Africa from 2009 to 2011. They are good - very good IMNSHO. Plus they know how ferme la bouche unlike some of our not so quiet professionals in SMUs. |

| #1 The French don't talk much about what they're doing in their various former colonies, but they just keep on doing it. Imagine what a coalition having undertaken such an effort might achieve. |
