| 121 insurgents killed in fresh clearance operations |

| [Khaama (Afghanistan)] 121 snuffies have been killed in fresh clearance operations across the country. A statement issued by the Ministry of Interior on Wednesday states that the operations were conducted in past 24 hours. According to the statement 23 imported muscle were among those killed. The statement further states that nine snuffies were also maimed in the operations carried out separately in Nangarhar The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country.. , Takhar, Kunduz, Sar-e-Pul, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Ghazni, Herat ...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns... , Ferah and Helmand ...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan... provinces. A number of different types of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were also discovered and defused by the security forces during the operations, the statement adds. Among the ongoing operations one is Operation Zulfiqar in Helmand province in which hundreds of soldiers are taking part. The operation begun in Sangin District but later expanded to other adjourning areas. The operation is the largest operation being conducted independently by Afghan National Security Forces after taking the full responsibility of the security from NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Originally it was a mutual defense pact directed against an expansionist Soviet Union. In later years it evolved into a mechanism for picking the American pocket while criticizing the cut of the American pants... forces at the start of this year. |
