4 TTP militants killed in Karachi 'encounter'

[DAWN] The city chief of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) was among four suspected murderous Moslems rubbed out in an alleged encounter with police and Rangers here on Monday.

The encounter took place after contingents of police and Rangers cordoned off an alleged hideout of the murderous Moslems in Surjani Town's Sector 10.

Senior Superintendent of Police Azfar Mahesar said: "We had received secret information that the murderous Moslems were planning to attack five important places and persons, including blowing up the Manghopir cop shoppe."

Police claimed to have seized a suicide jacket, two grenades and four pistols from the place. Mr Mahesar said that a constable, Usman, was injured in the clash.A Rangers front man said two personnel of the force were also injured.

According to officials, Tariq Khan alias Chota Abid, said to be chief of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain's Khan Sajna group in Karachi, was killed along with his deputy Rehmanuddin alias Lala, Amjad Khan and Sardar Rab Khan.
