| Three alleged robbers lynched in Chittagong |

| [Dhaka Tribune] Three suspected robbers were beaten to death by an angry mob in Payndong union of Fatikchhari upazila in Chittagong last night. One of the victims was identified as Osman, 42, the ring leader of the robbers' gang known as Osman Group; the identities of others could not be ascertained immediately. Mohammed Nazrul Islam, upazila nirbahi officer of Fatikchhari, confirmed the incident but did not say anything further. When contacted, ASP AFM Nijam Uddin of Chittagong district police told the Dhaka Tribune that he was on the way to the spot. Payndong Union Gay Pareehad's Chairman AKM Sarwar Hossain said the Osman Group had committed robbery in the locality several times recently. He said the robbers had stormed into an expatriate's house in the area around 8pm yesterday. Sensing their presence, My spider sense! It's tingling again! To arms! Aux barricades! the villagers cordoned them off and gave them a good beating leaving the three dead on the spot. |
