Iraqi forces liberate 3 villages in southern Kirkuk

[IraqiNews.com] On Monday, a security source in Kirkuk province said, that the paramilitary Kurdish Peshmerga forces have gained control over three villages in southern Kirkuk.

The source informed IraqiNews, "The Peshmerga forces have managed to liberate the villages of Khaled, Saad and al-Wehda in the district of Daquq, located 35 km south of Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
" pointing out that, "These forces are now in the centre of the villages, working to remove the explosives that ISIS bandidos Lions of Islam planted in the area."

“The Peshmgera forces are chasing the ISIS hard boyz who have fled to the surrounding villages," the source added.

U.S.-led strike kills 17 ISIS militants including 3 leaders in Kirkuk

[IraqiNews.com] On Monday, a security source in Kirkuk province announced, that 17 elements of the ISIS group, including 3 top leaders, have been killed in an air strike by the international coalition in southern Kirkuk.

The source stated to IraqiNews in an interview, "This morning, warplanes of the international coalition have carried out an air strike against an ISIS rank that was on its way to aid the ISIS group's Lions of Islam who were clashing with the paramilitary Peshmerga forces in the villages of Saad, al-Wehda and Khaled in the district of Daquq, located 35 km south of Kirkuk,

The source, who requested anonymity, added, "Seizing the three villages in Daquq is of strategic importance because the villages are only 250 meters away from the International Road which links between Kirkuk and Baghdad provinces."

Peshmerga holds investigation over killing Canadain officier by friendly fire

[IraqiNews.com] The Peshmerga Ministry within Kurdistan Regional Government announced forming an investigating over killing a Canadian officer and injuring three of his colleagues by mistake.

A statement by the Peshmerga Ministry received by IraqiNews.com "The Ministry held the investigation over this accident and informed the Canadian partner to participate in the US-Led Coalition against ISIL."
