[DAWN] GUJRANWALA: A leader of the Shia community and a member of the district peace committee was bumped off by four assailants here on Friday.Reports said Syed Mazahir Ali Bukhari along with his nephew, Haider Ali Shah, was returning to his house after attending a majlis at a Kalarabadi imambargah. As their vehicle reached near Hafizabad Road, the person or persons unknown opened fire, killing Mazahir Bukhari instantly while his nephew luckily remained unhurt.
The people from the Shia community gathered at DHQ Hospital where his body was taken for his appointment with Doctor Quincy.
They held a rally from the hospital which terminated at the residence of the dear departed at Tower Chowk.

Police have started the paperwork but haven't done much else against person or persons unknown and are investigating. Later, he was laid to rest in a local graveyard in the presence of hundreds of mourners.
