2015-03-24
[ARA] On Sunday, murderous Moslem fighters of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS/ISIS) bombed the renowned Yezidi ancient minaret of the Shingal district (120 km west of the city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
), in northern Iraq.

Speaking to ARA News, Siyamend Hemo, fighter in the Shingal's Protection Force (local defense gang) said that Sunday morning gunnies of the Islamic State group blew up Shingal's minaret --located in central al-Madina city-- after filling it with a large amount of explosives and improvised bombs.

"The gunnies also bombed more than seven houses belonging to the Yezidi minority in the same region," Hemo added.

"Shingal's Protection Force strongly condemns what has been done by the terrorist gangs of Daesh (Islamic State group) which demolished landmarks, monuments and archeological sites in Iraq," he told ARA News.

The IS hardline murderous Moslems bombed Shingal's minaret which dates back to the year 1127 AD (built during the reign of Imad ad-Din Zanki) and was considered one of the most important symbols of the city.

The minaret is deemed the most prominent archaeological monument in the district with a height of 12 meters, according to historical sources.

Noteworthy, the Islamic State blew up the Sayeda Zeinab shrine in the early hours of Sunday after controlling al-Madina in August 2014. The Shingal's minaret and Sayeda Zeinab shrine are the most prominent monuments in the area of Shingal.
