Libya warplanes target militants' positions near Tripoli
2015-03-24
[Iran Press TV] The Libyan army has launched Arclight airstrikes against the Death Eaters' positions near the capital city of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
According to the Libyan army front man, Colonel Ahmed al-Mesmari, on Monday, the strikes targeted "a weapons storage facility" belonging to the Libya Dawn
...aka Fajr Libya, the Islamist operation launched to counter that of General Khalifa Haftar (Operation Dignity). It is made up of the Libya Shield militia (Misrata and Moslem Brotherhood), Libya Revolutionaries Operations Room (Moslem Brotherhood), and Tripoli Brigade (close to Abdul Hakim Belhaj, head of Al-Watan party). Financing and moral support come from Turkey and Qatar...
militia alliance in Tarhuna, some 80 kilometers southeast of the capital.

Mesmari added that Libya Dawn Death Eaters, who are in control of Tripoli, attacked the house of a military officer and murdered "his wife, his daughter, his son, his brother and other people who were there" in retaliation for the army Arclight airstrikes.

This is while a front man for the Death Eater group rejected Mesmari's claim about the cold-blooded murder. The front man also said there is no weapons depot in Tarhuna, adding that the army offensive hit a refugee camp and killed eight civilians.

"Eight Libyan civilians died in the strike. Sadly this is their strategy, to kill civilians and claim to the international community that they are after weapons," he went on to say.

On Friday, Libya's internationally recognized government announced that the army has started an operation to recapture the capital city of Tripoli from armed Death Eaters.

Despite the ongoing festivities in the strife-torn country, Libya's warring factions continue to take part in UN-brokered talks in the Moroccan coastal town of Skhirat.
