Iraqi army recaptures Ramadi from ISIL terrorists
2015-04-17
[Iran Press TV] Iraqi forces have taken full control of the western city of Ramadi from ISIL Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
terrorists, in what could be seen as a major blow to Takfiri holy warriors operating in the Arab country.

A front man for Iraq's Joint Operation Command on Thursday announced the full liberation of Ramadi, the picturesque provincial capital of Anbar province.

General Sa'ad Ma'an said the Iraqi forces have driven the ISIL gunnies out of Ramadi and the city is currently under the full control of government forces.

However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
fierce festivities still continue on the outskirts of the city where ISIL Takfiris seized several villages earlier in the day, including Sofia, Abukhalifa and Sor. Two nearby districts of Bu Mahalat and Bu Sowda have been also captured by the ISIL myrmidons.

The Iraqi army has vowed no halt in the operation as it is poised to push ISIL out of the nearby villages in order to secure the army's positions inside the city.

#7  Reuters had a less optimistic sitrep out about 2 hours ago.

I'm moving slowly today, but I finally got the Iraqi News reports of the last two days up. The Ramadi locals were less optimistic as of yesterday as well.

#5  Sorta like Winchester Va circa 1861-1865. Captured and recaptured something like 30 times.

Personal Trivia: I stayed next door to Hal Holbrook for a weekend at the Holiday Inn, his daughter was Apple Blossom Queen or some such.

#4  Exactly. I suspect the IS' ex-Saddam-era military leadership running the Iraq theater is threatening Dire Consequences. Hence the 'Chechens' and other ilk.

#3  Isil's 'issues' with the 'volunteer' and local talent are why we are starting to see Chechens and the like in some of these encounters.
