| Five activists of banned outfits arrested |

[DAWN] GUJRANWALA: Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officials tossed in the clinkBook 'im, Mahmoud! on Wednesday three activists of the banned Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain ...a Sunni Deobandi organization, a formerly registered Pak political party, established in the early 1980s in Jhang by Maulana Haq Nawaz Jhangvi. Its stated goal is to oppose Shia influence in Pakistain. They're not too big on Brelvis, either. Or Christians. Or anybody else who's not them. The organization was bannedin 2002 as a terrorist organization, but somehow it keeps ticking along, piling up the corpse counts... (SSP), and one each of the Tehrik-e-Jafria Pakistain ...also known as the Tehrik-e-Islami. It was formed in 1979 with the usual objective of Islamic rule. Founder Allama Arif Hussain Hussaini was bumped off in 1988 by the regime of Zia ul-Haq, and then the mantle with the big concentric circles was assumed by Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi... (TJP) and Haideria Youth Organisation Another Shiite chowder and marching society... for their involvement in illegal activities and got a case registered against them under terror acts. A CTD investigator said they with police officials had arrested former divisional SSP president Qari Qasim, former SSP Pasrur president Qari Muhammad Asghar, former SSP coordinator Hafizur Rehman, former TJP president Ghulam Abbas and former Haidaria Youth Organisation president Azmat Ali Shah. The arrested people were allegedly active in their social circles and collected funds from people for their activities. |
