| Libya: Explosion outside Spanish embassy |

| [LibyaHerald] The Spanish embassy has become the latest diplomatic mission in Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... to be attacked. An bomb left outside the building in the city's residential Ben Ashour district went kaboom!late last night. There were no casualties although there was some minor physical damage. Like almost all Western and Arab embassies, the Spanish mission is closed because of the security situation in the city, although the diplomatic police still maintain guard on the building. A Tweet claiming to be from the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allaharound with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not reallyMoslems.... (IS) has said it was responsible. IS in Libya likewise grabbed credit for this month's attacks outside the South Korean and Moroccan embassies. In the case of the latter, an bomb was also left outside. Although there is there is no way of confirming IS involvement, it claims of responsibility appear credible. The Libya Dawn ...aka Fajr Libya, the Islamist operation launched to counter that of General Khalifa Haftar (Operation Dignity). It is made up of the Libya Shield militia (Misrata and Moslem Brotherhood), Libya Revolutionaries Operations Room (Moslem Brotherhood), and Tripoli Brigade (close to Abdul Hakim Belhaj, head of Al-Watan party). Financing and moral support come from Turkey and Qatar... regime's Foreign Ministry in Tripoli and the continuing General National Congress have both condemned this latest attack, claiming that the attack was an attempt to "destabilise" the city, present a "false image" of a security problem and undermine the UN-brokered dialogue process. Two days ago, for the same reasons, the regime's Interior Minister, Mohammed Sheiter, accused Operation Dignity and General Khalifa Hafter of being behind the embassy attacks. |
