| Former Pak interior minister survives suicide bomb attack |

| [RFE/RL] A Pakistani policeman was killed and two others injured when a suicide bomber attacked the convoy of a senior politician in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Officials say Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, the head of the Qaumi Watan Party and formerly Pakistan's interior minister, was the target of the attack. Reports say that Sherpao was not wounded. The suicide bomber ran towards Sherpao's vehicle as it was traveling through the province's western district of Charsadda. Security officials say the attacker first shot at Sherpao's vehicle, then detonated his explosives when police began to return fire. Sherpao said later that it was the fourth time he has survived an attempted assassination.. |
