| After clashes with ISIS, Syrian Kurds regain strategic locations |

| [ARA] On Sunday, the Kurdish forces of the People's Protection Units (YPG) regained control of several strategic locations on the international highway of Hasakah-Aleppo after fierce battles with the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. The YPG fighters were able to retake areas in the western countryside of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Tel Temir in Hasakah province, near the Aliya silos --a main headquarter of the IS radical group. "This comes in the framework of the military campaign initiated by the YPG last week in the southern villages of Sere Kaniye, supported by the U.S.-led coalition's warplanes," a YPG source told ARA News. "The military operations aim to expel the IS gunnies from Hasakah province," the source said, adding that the YPG fighters are now in control of the international highway between Aleppo and Hasakah near the Aliya silos. "Our (YPG) forces were to kill at least 30 IS gunnies and seize a large deal of weapons and ammunition in the recent festivities," the source said. In the past four days, the U.S.-led coalition's warplanes played a significant role in providing air cover for the YPG forces to regain control of areas in Hasakah countryside. On Saturday, the Islamic State launched an offensive on several locations of the YPG forces in the village of Farisa and Tel al-Boga, (25 km west of Sere Kaniye) in order to ease the burden on their fighters on the southern front. However, nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits... the YPG was able to repel the attack, killing 16 bad boys, a military source told ARA News earlier. |
