Supreme Leader: Enemy Failed to Sow Ethnic Discord in Kurdistan
2015-05-19
[ALMANAR.LB] Fearless Leader of the Islamic Revolution
...Iran's doddering head theocrat...
Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said the enemy has failed in its attempts to create ethnic and religious discord in the Kurdistan region.

The remarks were part of the Leader's written statements read out at a congress commemorating Moslem Kurdish Peshmerga deaders which was held Monday in the city of Sanandaj, the capital of western Iranian Kurdistan province.

In his statements, the Leader underlined that enemy conspiracies to cash in on "ethnicity" and "religion" to make the Kurdistan region insecure have been to no avail.

Ayatollah Khamenei said in his comments that anti-revolutionary elements spared no effort to foment insecurity in Kurdistan in the early years following the 1979 Islamic Revolution of Iran, but Moslem Kurds put their lives on the line to keep the enemy at bay.

The Leader also appreciated the sacrifices made by Moslem Peshmerga Kurds to counter the enemy.

"The enemy will not sit idly by, and will, as much as it can, use the many security, propaganda and financial tools in its possession to bear animosity," the Leader's statements read.

The enemy seeks to fuel religious divisions and to drive a wedge between Shias and Sunnis, read the Leader's statements, which also highlighted that some individuals fall for enemy conspiracies out of ignorance.

The Leader further urged vigilance against the enemy's divisive

plots.

In his statements, Ayatollah Khamenei said Britannia is an old hand at creating rifts between Shias and Sunnis, and referring to a US Congress motion which, under the guise of supporting Sunnis, seeks to bypass the Iraqi central government, asked: "Are they really interested in [supporting] Sunnis?"

"They are against anything which has a sign of Islam, and to them, there is no difference between Shias and Sunnis, and issues such as religion and ethnicity are just a pretext for them to sow discord," read the Leader's statements.
