| Suspected thief lynched in Chittagong |

| [Dhaka Tribune] An alleged cycle of violence thief has been beaten to death by an angry mob at Datmara union of Fatickchhari upazila in Chittagong. The dear departed is Md Rafiq, 26, of the Datmara area of the upazila, said Bhujpur cop shoppe's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahedul Kabir. OC Jahed said the incident took place at the Rubber Garden area of Datmara union at around 5:30am on Wednesday when the locals caught the thief during a burglary and gave him a good beating, leaving him dead on the spot. Being informed, police rushed to the spot and sent the body to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for an appointment with Dr. Quincy, added the OC. Rafiq was a professional cycle of violence thief in the area and an accused in two cases booked with Bhujpur cop shoppe in connection with a stolen motorbike, OC Jahed said. A case was lodged against some unidentified persons in this connection. |
