[Iran Press TV] Afghan cops have recaptured a restive district from Taliban in the country's troubled eastern province of Nuristan, local officials say.Abdul Qauom, the provincial governor in Nuristan, said that Waygal district was retaken by Afghan forces on Friday evening.
The fierce fighting over the district in the remote province along the country's mountainous border with Pakistain claimed the lives of at least 18 coppers and maimed 20 others, Qauom added.
The Taliban terrorist group also said in a statement that seven of its forces of Evil bit the dust after Afghan government forces launched the attack, which began on Thursday night.
The district was retaken just a day after it fell to the Taliban following a deadly assault. Sources said earlier that the Afghan government troops had no choice but to retreat from the area after they did not receive reinforcement.
