Parliament speaker okays Iraq's 'bloodless partition'
2015-07-06
[RUDAW.NET] Iraq's speaker of parliament said on Friday that he won't oppose a "bloodless partition" of Iraq so long as the general public give their consent to the issue.

"We don't have problems with the partition of Iraq if it is by consent and without blood," Speaker of Parliament Salim al-Jibouri said. "The public should also agree with any call for the partition of Iraq."

Jibouri, a Sunni, has recently called for more authority for the Sunni areas of Iraq and has lobbied the United States to arm the Sunni tribal fighters facing the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) in Anbar.

Jibouri accused regional powers of "preventing the creation of autonomous regions in Iraq,"

The speaker of parliament also warned against the danger posed by militia groups in the post-ISIS era, saying, "The fighters who fight in the security forces today will later become a serious threat,"

Jibouri added that the situation in Iraq after ISIS would be equally dangerous.

"The threats after ISIS will not be less because a huge amount of weapons are in the hands of Shiite militias," he said.

#4  Sunni Iraq better make friends with Jordan real fast or they'll just become second-class Iranians.

#3  This is like Egypt and Jordan losing Gaza and the West Bank, they had occupied since '48, to Israel then recognizing the Palestinian state.

#1  So now we have it.

Greater Kurdistan is becoming a reality and neither Syria nor Turkey like it...but really don't have a say in the matter given as how much of the territory in the new nation has been captured from ISIS.
