After 1000 days of siege, Daraya no acquiescence

[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Almost 1000 days passed on the big battle of Daraya which was an exceptional in resistance and fighting against uncountable attacks and attempts of the Syrian regime and its militias to invade the poor Sunni community on the south-west outskirts of the capital town.

Since the Syrian revolution erupted in March 2011, Daraya has been known of it peaceful demonstration and its martyr Ghiath Matar, who was known his peaceful flowers and water he used to give to Syrian regime soldiers, before his arresting and death under torture.

In August 2012, the Syrian regime committed a massive massacre in Daraya killing more than 400 hundred of its people, and the Syrian media presented them as terrorists.

Despite all that, Daraya's people insisted on carrying on their struggle and battle against the regime, with the rest of people stayed in the city and the possible arms they can provide, tried to avoid following any others' agenda or showing-off their achievement.

on 6 September 2011 by the security forces in Syria, Four days later, his body was returned to his family with clear scars and sores resulting from severe torture. His funeral was attended by the Ambassadors of the United States, Japan, Germany, La Belle France and Denmark. When Ghiath died, his wife was pregnant in their first baby, who carried his father's name.

Ghiath Matar has become a symbol of peaceful resistance of the Syrian revolution.
