Beledweyne bodies buried

At least 30 people have been killed and scores of others wounded in the latest clashes between government troops and Al Shabaab militants in central Somalia. The combat is said to have started when Al Shabaab militants launched surprise attack on government forces in west of Baladweyne town, capital of Hiiraan region.

Somalia’s military commander, Mohamed Abdullle told Shabelle Media Network that at least 25 Al Shabaab fighters were killed in the skirmishes in Beledweyne.

“Nearly 30 Al Shabaab members were killed our military forces in heavy fighting that lasted for three days in Aqoboow area in west of Beledweyne town” Col. Mohamed said.

The Al Qaeda linked Al Shabab insurgents were fleeing unavailable to reach on the phone for comment on the military’s claims.
