| Shaboobs whack two officials in Baladhawo |

| Deadly battle between government troops and heavily armed Al Shabaab militants has erupted in Kabis area sandwiched between Baladhawo and Garbaharey towns in south of Somalia’s Gedo region. The fighting started after government troops launched an attack on bases controlling by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab rebels, according local residents who spoke to Shabelle Media in Mogadishu. Somalia’s military officer, Nor Sayah Hared told Shabelle Media that head of police in Dolow, Col. Abdi Olosoow and Mohamad Farah, deputy District Commissioer of Balad-hawo were among those killed in the attack by Al Shabab. Mr. Nor said that several Al Shabaab members have killed and wounded in the ambush offensive, adding that the area is under control of government troops. Meanwhile, deadly clashes reported after unknown gunmen, thought to be Al Shabaab militants launched an assault on military bases located Libaaxloow area in south of Somalia’s Gedo region. |
