The Sun on Sunday can reveal that voicemail messages Mr Williams left for family and pals were deleted in the days after his death.

Gareth Williams, 31, dug out the guestlist for an event the former American president was going to as a favour for a pal. The codebreaker ‐ who had breached his security clearance ‐ handed the list to the friend, who was also to be a guest.

MI6 bosses raged over the data breach amid growing tensions with US security services over Mr Williams's transatlantic work.

Today, just over five years since his body was found inside a padlocked bag, his death remains one of Britain's most mysterious unsolved cases.

#7 A marine also linked Williams murder to a Mormon Bluffdale contract hit, claiming Hill was kept informed of his Above Top Secret work at NSA:
An intelligence source said: “Given the sensitivity of the situation, both Hague and Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State, would have been kept informed after the claims made by the Williams family barrister. … SVR, the Russian foreign intelligence service, is understood to have around forty spies in this country. They are either working under diplomatic cover at their embassy or with trade missions. MSS, the Chinese foreign intelligence service, is believed to have staff of over three thousand based in every country, including a number of 'hit’ teams.”
This sounds like the Orient Express when it comes to motives for killing a hacker.

#5 On an unrelated note, that Soviet airbush picture cracks me up. By removing the guy they basically made a lop-sided composition that shows their official photographers are incompetent and/or really draws attention that something is missing. Should have re-cropped the photo.

— Killed by a rival spy agency. Police issued e-fit of visiting couple.
— Murdered by a jealous lover. No sign of a break-in at Pimlico flat.
— He may have got a sexual kick from being left helpless.
— Coroner says death “unlawful” and “likely criminally mediated”.
— [Scotland] Yard review later said it was probably an accident with no one else present.

Apparently Mr. Williams had a lot of "baggage" to begin with.
