| Clashes Between Taliban Fighters Leave 18 Dead |

| [Tolo News] At least 18 Taliban Death Eaters have been killed so far in the ongoing festivities between the Talibs in western Herat ...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns... province, the local official said on Wednesday. In addition, 10 other Death Eaters sustained injuries, said Ehsanullah Hayat, provincial governor's front man. The festivities started Wednesday in Shindand district when the fighting broke out between the supporters of late Taliban leader Mullah Omar ... a minor Pashtun commander in the war against the Soviets who made good as leader of the Taliban. As ruler of Afghanistan, he took the title Leader of the Faithful. The imposition of Pashtunkhwa on the nation institutionalized ignorance and brutality in a country already notable for its own fair share of ignorance and brutality... and the followers of Mullah Mansour, who succeeded the group's ex-supreme leader, he added. The odds between the Taliban leaders emerged following appointment of Mullah Mansour as the group's new leader -- a decision widely opposed by some members of the group.
