Kurds expel ISIS from village near Kobane
2015-09-12
[ARA] Militant fighters of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
radical group (ISIS) launched an attack on the Kurdish village of Qolan in the southern countryside of Kobane, local sources reported on Thursday.

Amid constant attempts by the radical group to infiltrate into the southern countryside of Kobane, fierce festivities took place in the vicinity of Qolan between ISIS turbans and Kurdish forces of the People's Protection Units (YPG).

Speaking to ARA News, YPG member Habun Osman said: "Our forces repelled a new ISIS attack on the southern countryside of Kobane. After three hours of festivities, the ISIS Lions of Islam withdrew from the area on Thursday evening."

At least one ISIS myrmidon was killed and three injured during the festivities, while two Kurdish fighters were hardly maimed.

"We have taken strict security measures in order to prevent the terror group from returning to Kobane region," Osman said.

In August, turbans of the Islamic State infiltrated into Qolan village and kidnapped dozens of Kurdish civilians. Among the abductees were women and kiddies, who have recently returned to their hometown after the YPG forces regained the area and expelled turbans of the radical group.

Speaking to ARA News, YPG fighter Sarhad Abbas said: "We are concerned about the destiny of the abductees. We are aware that the barbarians of ISIS use civilians as human shields during battles, that's why we are deeply concerned."

Kurdish forces of the YPG and Peshmerga liberated the city of Kobane in January, after four months of fierce battles with the radical group of Islamic State.

In June, some ISIS turbans infiltrated into Kobane city and committed a massacre in which dozens of civilians were slaughtered.
