| Obama sends U.S. troops, drones to Cameroon in anti-Boko Haram fight |

| [ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The United States is sending 300 U.S. troops, along with surveillance drones, to Cameroon ...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there... to bolster a West African effort to counter the Nigerian holy warrior Islamist group Boko Haram ... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality... , U.S. officials said on Wednesday. In a notification to Congress, President Barack Obama If I had a son he'd look like Trayvon... said an advance force of about 90 military personnel began deploying on Monday to Cameroon, with the consent of the Yaounde government. The troops will "conduct airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations in the region," Obama said. "These forces are equipped with weapons for the purpose of providing their own force protection and security, and they will remain in Cameroon until their support is no longer needed." U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity ... for fear of being murdered... , said the troops would provide intelligence to a multi-national task force being set up to fight Boko Haram and composed of troops from Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, Chad and Benin. Boko Haram, which wants to carve out an Islamist caliphate and has allied itself to Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Not a good sign actually. The region has been a virtual slaughter house for 40,000+ years or so, but it's Champ's 'people' so we're in and have been in a somewhat clandestine limited fashion since at least 1984. Obviously Pre-Obama, if you can remember back that far. |
