Turkish forces detain dozens of ISIS suspects
2015-10-28
[ARA News] Diyarbakir – The Turkish security forces arrested on Tuesday more than 30 people suspected of membership in the Islamic State (ISIS) radical group in the southeastern city of Diyarbakir, police officials said.

This comes only one day after clashes between Turkish security forces and ISIS gunmen near the Kurdish-majority city of Diyarbakir.

In the meantime, the police launched operations against ISIS cell houses in the conservative central Anatolian city of Konya, according to Dogan agency.

The Turkish authorities started hunting ISIS extremists after blaming the jihadist group for a massive twin bomb attack in the capital Ankara this month, where more than 100 people were killed.

On Monday, two Turkish policemen were killed and four others injured in a security operation against radicals of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Diyarbakir.

Turkish security sources confirmed Monday the death of two policemen and the injury of four more when an explosive device planted by ISIS militants was detonated in the vicinity of a police center.

This comes after Turkish forces raided a number of houses of ISIS suspects in Diyarbakir.

“Units of the security forces carried out an operation on houses for ISIS members in the Kayapinar district in Diyarbakir suburb, which led to the outbreak of clashes,” a security official said, pointing out that seven militants were killed in the operation.
