| Resistance attacks rebels in central Yemen |

| Published Friday, October 30, 2015 Yemen’s national resistance fighters attacked positions held by Houthis and their allies in central Yemen on Thursday, triggering heavy fighting all the day. Military sources said the resistance fighters targeted positions in three areas in the central govern-ate of Al Bayda and that the rebels reacted by calling in reinforcements. “Heavy fighting erupted in those areas all the day…the battles were still continuing until this moment without any major advance by the two warring parties,” Yemen’s news network Masdar Online quoted a military source as saying late Thursday. The network also quoted sources as saying two Houthi militias were killed on Thursday in a resistance attack while a rebel armoured vehicle was destroyed by artillery shelling by the national resistance fighters in the central region. In a related development, coalition jets pounded rebel positions in Al Bayda city and areas surrounding it on Thursday. |
