Forces Retake Areas As Helmand Operation Continuing |

The security forces have been able to retake control of a number of areas from the Taliban as the anti-insurgent clearance operation is underway in the southern Helmand province. Embedded with security force members, TOLOnews correspondent Tamim Hamid said the forces have extended the operation to Marjah and Nad-e-Ali districts. The security forces retook control of a military base recently seized by the Taliban in Chanjir area in Nad-e-Ali, he added. According to the security officials, the operation will be extended to all embattled parts of the southern province – which is the largest narcotics producing province. Taliban are reportedly financing themselves through drug production and trafficking. Video report at the link |
