One soldier killed in southeastern town in PKK clashes
2015-11-08
[Hurriyet] One soldier was killed late Nov. 5 in the Dicle district of the southeastern province of Diyarbakir during festivities with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

Beytullah Tercan was killed during the festivities near Görese Mountain in the Dicle district. His body was sent to the eastern province of Malatya on Nov. 6 after an official ceremony was held in Diyarbakir Military Hospital.

Diyarbakir Gov. Huseyin Aksoy visited the soldier maimed in the same area during the festivities after the ceremony. The operations against PKK holy warriors have started after an indeterminate curfew took effect in 22 neighborhoods in Dicle at 5 a.m. on Nov. 5.

The Governor's Office said operations would be conducted against PKK holy warriors in mountainous and forest areas between Dicle's north and the Kursunlu, Kirkpinar and Kayas neighborhoods of the district.

The statement also said a curfew in effect since Nov. 4 in several neighborhoods in Diyarbakir's Lice district was lifted at 5 a.m. on Nov. 5.
