Two suicide bombers killed in VBIED explosion in Paktika |

Two suicide bombers have been killed in a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) explosion in Paktika province of Afghanistan. The incident took place outside the office of the governor of Sarobi District Wednesday afternoon. Spokesperson for the governor of Paktika province said that police had received information about a possible suicide attack in Sarobi District. According to Nabiullah Peerkhil, yesterday when two suicide bombers driving a Surf vehicle “laden with explosives” tried to target the office of the district governor police suspected the vehicle and pointed to it to stop. Peerkhil says when the vehicle did not stop, police fired at it and a huge explosion occured leaving both of the suicide attackers killed. He said one policeman also sustained injuries and windows of the governor’s office shattered in the blast. Taliban spokesman Mujahid says the attack was planned by them and that government has suffered heavy casualties in the explosion. |
