US military: Air strikes destroy 116 ISIS fuel trucks, sharing target info with France |
2015-11-19 |
Excerpt: 'The official said previously the fuel trucks were off limits to U.S. military strike aircraft. WTF?! When asked if the Paris attacks would bring about a change in the U.S. military's rules of engagement, the official said that the truck drivers were warned first before the bombs fell. 'We dropped leaflets, warning the drivers to scatter,' See above. said an official who had been briefed on the strike. 'Next we strafed the area [with 30mm cannons] before the dropping bombs' from the warthogs." |

#17 I bet all those family survivors of French railroad workers caught in the allied bombing of '44 wished grandpa got some warning leaflets too just before the iron arrived. It's sort of like war, but not quite war as you thought it was. |

#16 Warren said the leaflets, which were dropped about 45 minutes before the airstrikes began, said, "Get out of your trucks now, and run away from them." Because the truck drivers were assumed to be civilians, Warren said the military created the leaflets to "shoo people away without harming them." |

#15 Tank truck drivers are part of the military logistics effort of ISIS. Therefore they are also legitimate targets. Get rid of the truck drivers and it will be harder to get recruits for other trucks. Just like the driver of a hit squad. They may only drive but they are part of the operation. |

#13 More than a year ago there was the claim that ISIS made $1 million a day selling oil to Turkey and Iraq. There were articles that disputed that claim because it would take hundreds of trucks to achieve that amount. I for one certainly didn't realize that the Pentagon had placed the trucks off limits. IOW, the Pentagon kept silent as ISIS continued to fund itself through the ilicit movement of oil that could have been stopped. Don't tell me that the Pentagon is not a 'go along and get along' operation. |

#10 How about remove most, but not all, fuel from the rat line. Only the most "mission critical" vehicles will be allowed fuel, to include troop transports, and other HVT's. Turkey shoot to follow. |

#9 So that's Russia - 500, USA - 116. We're a little bit behind, huh? Think maybe if we didn't stop to warn the drivers we could do some catching up? |

#8 Logistics are valid targets. This is why ISIS isn't "contained" in the least. |

#7 I guess Putin showed G-20 all the trucks carrying illegal fuel to fund ISIS crossing over Turkey, warning them he was going to take them out. RoE prohibited our pilots from taking them out because the drivers were considered civilians....also warning fellow G-20 members were actively aiding ISIS. The photo of Putin and O was very telling--look at Putin's tense jaw--but Pooty deserves a little respect for calling it like it is. |

#6 'The official said previously the fuel trucks were off limits to U.S. military strike aircraft. WTF?! One possible explanation; if your bombing campaign has primarily targeted ISIS High Value Targets (HVT) traveling about in vehicles, Toyota's, captured MRAPS, etc, the continued mobility of these vehicles is essential. |
