U.S. Embassy warns possible attack within 48 hours in Kabul city
2015-12-01
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Embassy of the United States in Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
has warned a possible attack in the city within 48 hours.

"U.S. Embassy Kabul has received credible reports of an imminent attack in Kabul City, Kabul Province, Afghanistan within the next 48 hours," according to a statement released by the embassy on Monday.

The embassy urges its citizens to exercise extreme caution while moving around the city during this period.

"During this period of heightened threat, the U.S. Embassy strongly urges U.S. citizens to exercise extreme caution if moving around the city. There were no further details regarding the targets, timing, or method of the planned attack," the statement adds.

The statement further states that the security situation in Afghanistan is extremely unstable, and the threat to all U.S. citizens in Afghanistan remains critical.

The embassy urges U.S. citizens currently visiting or residing in Afghanistan to consider departing and those who decide to remain in Afghanistan to review your personal security plans, take appropriate steps to enhance your personal safety, remain aware of your surroundings, monitor local media for updates, and maintain a high level of vigilance.

#1  Now, see, I would have thought 48 hours was statistically the mean period between attacks there.
Or something.
